Looking for a good midrash or other Torah commentary? Midrash is rabbinic commentary on the Torah. But if that sounds dry, you
don't know midrash! Midrashim are as
fanciful as you can imagine. They reflect the oral tradition of what
got left out of the Torah but must be true, as all
good stories are. The legends of midrash also serve a homiletical purpose,
reconciling apparent difficulties in the text to instruct us, through a good
story, how we ought to live our lives.
