Looking for a good book on Jewish education?
Do the very words conjure up images of suffering children in a Sunday
or afternoon school, yearning to be free for soccer or ballet? Would one of
those kids be you?
It need not be so. Jewish education in synagogue afternoon and Sunday schools
are likely to have lots more creative tools at their disposal now to try to
convey to the kids a little Yiddishkeit in the limited class time they have. And
in Jewish day schools - well, that's a different story. There are doubtless
exceptions, but day schools work so much better than supplementary schools can.
They have the kids during the regular school day (so they're not worn out), and
the Jewish subjects are just as important as the secular ones.
If you want to learn more about Jewish education through books, this is the
place - whether you're a parent, a teacher, a synagogue leader, or anyone else
for whom Jewish education really matters.
