Very comprehensive version, good translation and commentaries. It allows jews with little hebrew knowledge, to understand the Torah and read commentaries from Rashi and other sages. I used to go with my father to synagogue and he had this book which allowed me to understand the Parasha. I will do the same with my future kids...

As I have generally attended Conservative synagogues,this edition of the Hebrew Bible weekly portion read in synagogues is the one I'm used to-and have become much more enthusiastic about.
This edition,first published in 1937,was edited by the Jewish Theological Seminary's first graduate,Rabbi Joseph Hertz;Hertz would later arguably become the Chief Rabbi of England(today,it's inconceivable that a graduate of a Conservative seminary would be considered the chief rabbi of anywhere).Sixty years before... more info
