Stuart Brotman and Michael Alpert are consummate musicians who have dedicated themselves to revivifying the klezmer tradition, sans shmaltz. Stuart taught himself to play the cymbalom, a traditional Eastern European klezmer instrument, and hellishly difficult to play. Michael brings a pure tenor, fluent Yiddish, and a scholar's attention to detail to forming his vocal and violin styles.
