World War I has ended, and Ella, the oldest of the five sisters, who dreams of singing and dancing in the theater, is discovered by a Broadway talent scout. It seems that she will have her chance at a theatrical career after all, starting in vaudeville. But her thoughts are also on Jules, just returned from the War, and marriage. Once again a loving family provides the support needed to make the right decision.

Ella's all grown up, and struggling to decide her fate:

All of a Kind Famliy:
I read this as a child and gave mine to my daughter to read when she was 8. Now my grand daughter is loving all of the books in this series - alas we lost mine along the way with moving but was able to find themin reprint thanks to Amazon.
Short book:
I have read all of the All-of-a-Kind Family books except this one. This one was not available at my local libraries. It is just as good of a book as the other ones, my only complaint is it seems VERY short. I was hoping that the last in the series would last a little longer.

I'm actually over thirteen but I can't be bothered with the whole account system at the moment. I agree, it is less charming than the other books of the series, but Mrs. Taylor (formerly Sarah Brenner) was simply retelling a story loosely based on her own childhood. As you can see form hte previous books, and her dedication in this one, Sarah looked up to her older sister and felt obliged to write a book about her.
