A help in understanding Rashi:
We often think we understand and discover on closer reading that we do not. Avigdor Bonchek has probed deeply into the commentary of Rashi, has raised important questions, and made an effort to provide the appropriate answers. For a person like myself who never learned 'Chumash with Rashi' as a child, and needs to learn fundamental things this commentary is a big help. My sense is it would also be of great help to those who know and understand much more than myself.
Good, but shoud be "menukad" (vocalized):
I withheld 1 star due to the Rashi not being vowelized. I gather the intended audience is the intermediate-level student. Yet I find that many students with several years of yeshiva behind them still strugle with the vocalization, to the point where it distracts them from the concept(s) being discussed. Excellent guide for studying Rashi:
This book, the second in a series, focuses on debates between the commentaries of Rashi and Ramban, but also has many exercises which deal with Rashi alone. Each segment takes Rashi's commentary on one verse and discusses it in a series of questions which the reader is supposed to try to answer himself or herself before reading the author's suggested answer.
