This innovative dictionary makes the Hebrew language more accessible to students by eliminating the formidable barrier of the Hebrew alphabet. It's easy to locate words quickly with the Webster's New World Hebrew-English Dictionary, because the Hebrew-to-English section is alphabetized according to the transliterated English spelling. The English version is marked for correct pronunciation and followed immediately by the Hebrew spelling of the word. This breakthrough work of linguistic scholarship is packed with useful features that guarantee rapid progress, even for those with no familiarity with the Hebrew language. It contains: * Extensive grammatical information including parts of speech, variant verb forms, and the formation of feminines and plurals * Listings of idioms and compounds and indications of colloquialisms and slang * Common variations in pronunciations * Geographical, historical and cultural entries

Don't be put off by negative reviews!:
I am learning modern Hebrew and was nearly put off buying this book by the negative reviews. I'm so glad I bought it. It is absolutely brilliant and not too complex, easy to read print and well laid out. The words are also written in Hebrew lettering as they are used in Israel, after the transliteration. (It is not a Biblical Hebrew dictionary.) Thus far, I haven't had a single problem finding any particular word in it. Having said that, it is not a stand-alone dictionary. You will still need at least... more info
Does what it claims to do:
This dictionary does exactly what it claims to do... it offers an easy way to look up hebrew words in either the hebrew alphabet or in the transliterated English (Latin) characters. They clearly state on the first page of the "Guide to Use" that one must memorize the transliteration system and of course know how to pronounce the Hebrew words. I did that and it has been very helpful to me. I usually find the words I'm looking for and the transliteration is not a problem.
horrible:
I don't know what I was thinking when I bought it. I am learning Biblical Hebrew and this is more or less for conversational Hebrew. Aside from that...Looking up a word in Hebrew to find the English is where I have the greatest difficulty. I do not like the fact the it does not follow the Hebrew AlephBet and does not exactly follow the English alphabet either. Finding the root of a verb is nearly impossible.
Too bad I lost my receipt because I would love to get a refund.
Excellent supplemental info, riddled with errors:
This dictionary has given me what I haven't found elsewhere: the stressed syllable, the actual pronunciation of the schwa, lots of inflectional details. Unfortunately typos, omissions and errors in the alphabetical order abound. The funny translitteration makes can make it difficult to find words encountered in written text. I give a high rating because the good stuff to me by far outweighs the negatives.
