One sided and based on assumptions:
This book's chief problems as far as I can tell are its stereotyping of other christian denominations and its use of anecdotal evidence. The book is basically a manual for Reformed Theology in the contemporary world and as such, is very conservative. When this book does offer contrasting viewpoints to those held by the author, they are not well presented and are usually brushed off with single references to the Bible. Buy the book but not the Kindle edition:
This is a fantastic book. As a new Christian I am enjoying it immensely. I wanted to buy this for my Kindle, but the price is way too high. For a few more dollars I bought the physical book. I suppose that is the strategy of the Publisher; he does not want to promote the EBook market. I think this is very short sighted. EBooks are the future. I think the Publisher's net profits were less with the physical book; there is no printing or distribution costs to the EBook.
Systematic Theology a choice!:
I found it to be a thorough and balanced text and it shows both sides of the issues on which some differ of opinions but always shows what the Bible says about the subjects covered. 57 chapters of richly woven fabric of the Word.
Fancy Name, Easy Read:
I must admit that i was intimidated at the sheer dictionary size of the book that brought back memories of college textbooks. However, once you open this book and begin to read the theology presented; you'll appreciate Wayne Grudem's ability to tackle Christian concepts in easy layman's terms. It has allowed me to grasp a greater understanding of foundational Christian principles in a fresh new way.
